SAINTS & MERCY PILGRIMAGE

9 Days in Poland

Today marks the beginning of an extraordinary pilgrimage as you board your flight to Krakow, Poland.

Upon arrival at Kraków Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel to settle in. The day begins with an Opening Mass at a local church near the city center, providing a moment to unite the group in prayer and set the spiritual tone for the pilgrimage. In the evening, visit the tomb of Saint Faustina Kowalska, the humble mystic whose visions inspired the Divine Mercy devotion, allowing time for quiet reflection and personal prayer

This day immerses you in the rich faith heritage of Kraków. Start with a guided tour of the Wawel Cathedral, where Polish kings were crowned, followed by a visit to the iconic St. Mary’s Basilica, famous for its stunning altarpiece and hourly trumpet call. Explore the bustling Market Square and then visit the Archbishop’s Palace, the former residence of Karol Wojtyła, who became Pope John Paul II. In the afternoon, journey to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, a place of profound spiritual significance. Here, experience the powerful atmosphere of the chapel that houses the original Divine Mercy image, pray at St. Faustina’s tomb, and participate in Mass celebrated within the sanctuary. This visit offers a deep encounter with the message of God’s mercy, central to the life and mission of both Saint Faustina and Pope John Paul II.

Begin with a visit to Nowa Huta, a district built during communist times as a symbol of atheistic ideology but later known for its strong underground Christian community and resistance. Learn about the courageous faith of those who upheld Christianity in difficult times. Return to Kraków for a catechesis session focused on the theme “Jesus, I Trust in You,” deepening understanding of the Divine Mercy message. The day closes with group sharing to reflect on these powerful testimonies, followed by Mass to nourish the spirit.

Today, embark on a solemn pilgrimage to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, located about 70 km from Kraków. Through a silent, guided tour, witness the stark reminders of human suffering and evil, and contemplate the presence of mercy even in the darkest places. A special youth reflection session titled “Mercy in the Shadow of Evil” invites participants to find hope and forgiveness. The day concludes with Mass at the Center for Dialogue and Prayer, offering a sacred space for healing and reconciliation.

Travel to Częstochowa, home of the revered Jasna Góra Monastery, which houses the miraculous Black Madonna icon, a national symbol of faith and resilience. Participate in a rosary prayer and Mass in the magnificent basilica, followed by time for personal devotion and procession or adoration in the evening, deepening your connection to Marian spirituality.

Journey onward to Warsaw, Poland’s vibrant capital, where you’ll check into your hotel before exploring the Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka. Here, visit the tomb of Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko, a modern martyr whose witness to faith and justice inspired many during Poland’s turbulent history. Evening Mass and group reflection provide an opportunity to process the day’s spiritual insights.

Explore Warsaw’s profound history of faith under persecution, beginning with a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum or the Gestapo cell where Saint Maximilian Kolbe was imprisoned. These sites provide vivid reminders of sacrifice and courage. Celebrate Mass in a local church, then enjoy free time or optional cultural activities, allowing space for personal encounters and community building.

This morning, transfer to the airport for your departure flight, carrying with you renewed faith and lasting memories.
